12th Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education Empowers Young Leaders to Drive Positive Change

SEOUL, 18 June, 2026 - 12th Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) successfully brought together 42 participants among young leaders, educators, at Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding Under The Auspices of UNESCO (APCEIU).
Organised under the theme "Empowering Youth for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future," the workshop provided participants with a platform to explore critical global issues, including sustainable development, peacebuilding, cultural diversity, social inclusion, and digital citizenship.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in interactive discussions, leadership exercises, and collaborative projects designed to enhance their understanding of global challenges and encourage innovative solutions at both local and international levels. The workshop also emphasised the importance of empathy, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding in building more resilient and peaceful communities.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, exchange ideas, and gain practical leadership experiences. Many described the workshop as an inspiring experience that broadened their perspectives on global issues and strengthened their commitment to community engagement.
The 12th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED concluded with participants presenting action plans and community initiatives that reflect the principles of global citizenship and sustainable development.
The programme reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a generation of responsible, compassionate, and globally minded young leaders who are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
